Lisa Matthews, Owner

Nationally Certified CDBC, CPDT-KA, EdS

FEAR FREE CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL

Veteran college professor and middle grade science teacher, Lisa Matthews founded Pawsitive Practice Training in 2010 after attending Pat Miller’s Level-One course for dog trainers.

Lisa earned her National Certification for Professional Dog Trainers (CPDT-KA) in 2011 and was invited to join the Victoria Stilwell Positively Dog Training Team in 2012. In 2016, Lisa took her passion for working with fearful, anxious, and aggressive dogs to the next level by earning her IAABC Certified Dog Behavior Consultant certificate.

She then renamed her business to Pawsitive Practice Training and Behavior Consulting, LLC due to her focus on growing the behavior consulting aspect of her dog training business. Lisa relocated to West Cobb County where she currently lives with her husband and rescue dog (obviously impeccably behaved), Patrick.

Lisa thoroughly enjoys the privilege of spending her time and energy teaching dogs and people how to harness science to better communicate and reach their desired goals. As a Fear Free Certified professional, she often conducts presentations for local veterinarians about various behavior-related topics.

As if that weren’t enough, she gives back to the community by conducting free educational seminars on topics like bite prevention, how dogs learn, and how to use positive reinforcement for effective training.

Tyler Baker, Dog Trainer

Nationally Certified CPDT-KA

FEAR FREE CERTIFIED

Tyler Baker’s innate passion for animals shines through in everything he does. He gained deep knowledge and experience while working in dog daycare settings, pet sitting, as well as volunteering and fostering for the Mostly Mutts organization in Kennesaw.

Tyler teaches private lessons on basic obedience and helps people get their new puppies off on the right paw. He’s also a highly-skilled behavioral trainer and geeks out constantly reading the most up-to-date research in canine neurobiology and behavior modification training.

He interned with Lisa Matthews for a full year, then sat for and passed his National Trainer Certification test (CPDT-KA) on March 22, 2019. Lisa and her team are proud to have Tyler on the team.

He lives in Kennesaw. In his spare time, he still enjoys volunteering at the Mostly Mutts organization. Clearly, Tyler is a ‘dog person,’ and a wonderful trainer for new puppy owners and those struggle with behavior concerns.

Caitlin McCook, Dog Trainer

National Certified CPDT-KA

FEAR FREE CERTIFIED

Caitlin McCook got her first taste of dog training in 2007 when she and her father took up agility training as a hobby with their Australian Shepherds. The hobby quickly transformed into an obsession. Soon after graduating from UGA in 2011, Caitlin began taking every opportunity to train and work with dogs.

Caitlin is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and a FEAR FREE CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL. Her experience spans work in both veterinary and dog shelter environments. She hails from a long line of professional educators and diverted just a little from this tradition by focusing on a career in dog training.

Caitlin enjoys teaching clients and their beloved canines and absolutely loves ‘nerding out’ about the science behind the way dogs learn and the best techniques for training them. She and her husband live in Smyrna with a menagerie of misfit pets, including three dogs, two cats, and a clicker-trained rat named Premack.

When she’s not training dogs, you can typically find Caitlin making music, leaning new aerial skills, and cheering for her husband in the Smyrna dart league.

Thanks for checking out our team. We’re eager to learn more about you and your dog life as well, so schedule a free consultation and let’s get together!
